So Christmas for me has been different probably since high school started. I've gotten out of the "presents" stage and into the "presence." I realized that it isn't all about what we get, but who we spend it with and how we can give unto others. I don't remember where I heard or saw it, but someone said that we needed to get out of the rush of things and be sure to notice others in the Christmas season. As I was walking through the store trying to find ingredients to make Frog Eye Salad, I remembered this as I was passing an older woman who was pretty short and she was trying to reach something on the top shelf. I didn't need to hurry to find the ingredients and I wanted to help, so I asked what she was trying to reach and got it down for her. I'm sure she was quite grateful as there was no one else around. It was such a good feeling to help her and remember what this season is all about. Anyway, Christmas was so good today, besides getting woken up at 6:30 in the AM... Having little siblings is what makes it hard to completely focus on giving service and Christ. For Aimee and Avery, Santa is still real so Christmas morning is a really big deal. I'm sure they know in the back of their minds that Christmas isn't all about the presents but for now it's a pretty huge thing. Church with my family was great too! There are a lot of talented people in my family's ward, singers, harpists, etc. It was truly beautiful. (Although I was a little distracted by the fact that Aimee got to sleep through all of it...)
I also got to make breakfast for my family this morning! Since I'm a Pinterest addict, I found this breakfast casserole recipe that cooks overnight in a crock-pot. We usually have a quiche in the morning, but this was the exact same thing and you didn't have to wait for it to cook while you were awake in the morning. It's fun to know that something I probably waste too much time on really paid off today.
Update on those dates:
I haven't gone out with Kris yet, but that'll be this coming week sometime.
Joey took me out for some Chinese food at what he called "the best ghetto place ever." I'm kind of a germ-aphobe so I was a little bit sketchy on the food, but I just had to get over that. It turned out to be pretty great! Not as good as Empire, my favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but it was good nonetheless. After that we went paintballing. Now it's been a dream of mine to go paintballing, but this was a lot more intense than I was expecting. The other people that were at the place apparently were sponsored to play so they were really good. At first my goal was to just not get hit. But then I realized that I would just be hiding the whole time so I ventured out a little more and started shooting. I got two kills in all that night. One of which was Joey! I came home with some pretty awesome bruises (I love bruises, I dunno why though) and a good time.
I told Colton I didn't feel right about me and him.. Sadly it was over text but I had to otherwise I would have just kept leading him on. I feel bad and all, but me and him aren't meant for each other, or we're not meant for each other right now at least.
I think that's all the guys... Wow I really do have a way of having guys fall for me... Too bad I'm not falling for any of them though.. I'm just like my mom always calls me, a heart breaker.
Merry Christmas to all my beautiful friends and family. I love you all and am thankful for you everyday.
Another thing: I spent a couple days in Richfield with some of the most amazing people I've ever met. The Jensen family. Seriously, they're awesome. They welcome me into their home like I'm part of their family and I love them! They will forever be a part of my life and am so grateful for the friendship that Katelin has brought me!
tears in my eyes, no joke. we (my whole family) LOVE you!!!
